Really beutiful historic farm
Beautiful place!
Fun for the family. Make a scarecrow!
We stopped by this farm on the way to Jacksonville Historic town all part of the Southern Oregon Historical Society's managed properties. It is a small but beautiful little farm, open to the public to picnic on Thursdays and Fridays with the historic 1870s house open to the public on Saturdays with guided tours. They will have special days with bands and activities for Fourth of July and a few other times of the year. The kids loved the chicken coop and the open lawns with dappled light from mature trees to run around in. It was considerably cooler here than in the sun. The manager and his dog were there when we went and were gracious hosts. The farm itself is growing pumpkins and other stuff that will be sold in the fall mostly. We didn't get into the house itself, but it is apparently extensively original furnishings (wallpaper, furniture, etc.) from the 1870s brought over from the east coast. Apparently only the Beekman House in Jacksonville will surpass this one for original details when it opens. Overall, it is a nice little spot to stop for a picnic with bread, cheese and wine (from the Rogue Valley Creamery in Central Point a short bit away for example!).
Cuz the farm is just that. Mud and growth. A maze that is always changing. And of coarse Pilot Rock under harvest moon.
